Budget Message 2017 – 2018
The Board of Trustees of the Westbury Memorial Public Library is happy to announce that there will be no increase in Library taxes this year.
The Westbury Library has a contract with the Carle Place community which has allowed the Library to keep tax increases to a minimum over the last ten years. The relationship between the two communities is a beneficial one for the people who enjoy using the Library and the taxpayers.
The Board of Trustees and adminstration work hard to ensure that expenses are controlled. A grant award of $160,000 from the NY State Dormitory Authority will pay for a significant part of the HVAC replacement project. Due to a reduction in staff, the salary line was able to be reduced. In response to community demand and the Long Range Plan, the book and programming lines are increasing.
Our staff and Board believe in providing gracious and responsive services to all members of the community. We welcome your input on the Library budget hearing on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 7pm.
Thank you for your support and please remember to vote on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 9am-9pm at the Library.
